The King Corporation has been living and breathing the computer business for
over 20 years. During that time we have tried and tested literally
thousands of ideas and innovations that have come along. And these
products and services have been tested in the real world, not in the limited
landscape of an industry reviewer's exposure to a product where they have access
to the latest version of a product and unlimited support, all free of charge, in
hopes of generating a favorable review.
Sadly, the nature of
the computer industry is that few things function as advertised. In fact,
some things that are advertised, never even materialize, let alone function.
There is even a term for it -- Vaporware. Our warning... you have to be
careful out there! Early in our experience we started using a tape drive
software program that was highly rated by a number of reviewers. It seem
to perform flawlessly... until the true "test of fire" came. Actually
having to restore a real disk drive in a real setting with real, essential data.
We couldn't get the product to restore... at all. After several days and
lengthy and repeated calls to tech support we were finally told by a higher
level tech that this issue was a "small glitch that had been fixed in the
upgrade version that we could purchase for $99." Tape software that won't
restore is a "small glitch"?
Well, the things you will find listed and linked on this page are
things that actually work,
in real life environments. In some cases, we will have established an
affiliation with the product because we want to make this quality product
available to our clients. In other instances we are just pointing to them
because they are truly "stand outs" in their category. In all cases,
nothing will appear on these pages that we haven't actually used in a real world
environment and found it to work as promised.
If time and emotions permit, we may even relate a few horror stories of the
scores of things that haven't worked over the years. Many of which are
