The Results
The complete and current status of Security Tracks is displayed on the system's monitoring
panel in the Detention Center
control room. This monitoring panel provides both visual and audio feedback to the Detention Center staff regarding each checkpoint.
The monitoring panel shows each checkpoint, when it was last checked, who it was last
checked by and when the next observation is due. Should a checkpoint become
overdue for attention, visual indication is given on the monitoring panel in
flashing red and an audible alarm sounds in the Control Room.
The automatic logging of these well-being checks, along with the wide variety of other
information the system can collect (see Beyond the
Basics) is recorded by the Security
Tracks system in four different types of logs that are permanently and
redundantly stored.
Detention Center staff can access the current day's log from the Security
Tracks monitoring panel. Supervisory personnel can access and search
all of the information ever recorded by the system. In all cases, these
log files are not changeable, only searchable and viewable, thus ensuring the
integrity of the system.
Administrative staff can access the data stored on the Security
Tracks server from the computer in their office either through an existing computer network or by creating a separate network to view this
information. Several levels of security are built into the system to
protect the viability of the Security Tracks data.
